The premiere of the new reality show The 50 started with massive drama when contestant Sagar Thakur, popularly known as Maxtern, made a shocking revelation about YouTuber Elvish Yadav. The claim instantly grabbed attention and turned an old 2024 viral controversy into the biggest talking point of the show’s first episode.

As The 50 opened its doors to 50 celebrities entering the grand “Lion’s Palace,” the focus quickly shifted from the game to a private conversation between Maxtern and fellow contestant Prince Narula. During this discussion, Maxtern alleged that Elvish Yadav had sent him Rs 1 lakh before the infamous slap incident that went viral last year.

According to Maxtern, Elvish asked him to check his bank account one day, where he found a transfer of Rs 1 lakh. “I had no idea why the money was deposited,” Maxtern said on the show. He claimed that Elvish later suggested they work together and even offered friendship. Maxtern shared that he was going through a difficult mental phase at the time and felt emotional after the gesture. However, things took a dark turn when Elvish later accused Maxtern of abusing his mother, an allegation Maxtern strongly denied.

Maxtern further connected the payment to the controversial 2024 incident in which a video surfaced showing Elvish Yadav allegedly slapping him. He revealed that days before the fight, Elvish had asked him to shoot a scene for a delayed music video where Elvish would slap him. Maxtern claimed the concept of the scene was never properly explained. The situation escalated into a real-life altercation that also involved Elvish’s friend Lakshay Kaushik. After the viral clip spread online, a police complaint was filed in which Elvish accused Maxtern of issuing threats.

The drama is set to intensify inside The 50 because Lakshay Kaushik is also a contestant. Maxtern told Prince Narula that he plans to confront Lakshay directly, questioning whether the money was meant to frame him. He also claimed that Lakshay later called him asking for the Rs 1 lakh to be returned.

Well, The 50 features well-known names like Karan Patel, Urvashi Dholakia, and digital stars such as Mr Faisu. With a Rs 50 lakh prize, 50 days of competition, and a powerful “Lion” as host, the show promises high-stakes drama. Still, Maxtern’s explosive confession has already become the most talked-about moment, blurring the line between real-world controversy and reality TV gameplay.
