The iconic proposal scene in Jannat has set the bar, and no proposal scene in Bollywood has yet crossed the craze that Jannat has achieved! More than a scene, Emraan Hashmi’s efforts and Sonal Chauhan’s surrender have set a standard among the audience that continues to remain the definition of a classic Bollywood proposal! Recently, the actress took a trip down memory lane and made one of the biggest revelations - Emraan Hashmi was NOT fully convinced for the proposal scene!

Looking at the love that Jannat and the proposal scene continues to receive, Chauhan says, “Ye iss film ki jeet hain ki log usko itna personally le gaye ki aaj-tak mujhse ladke milte hain aur bolte hain ki aap ko Emraan ko marne nahi dena chahiye tha. Bahot saari cheez thi jaha mujhe script ke sath issues the - humara wo scene tha jaha mai bolti hu ki ‘jiske paas khud ka vehicle nahi hota unhe call center ki hi vehicle se jana padta hain’. Maine director se bola ki aap mujhe gold-digger bana rahe hain! Wo mujhe coffee pe le jaana chaahta hain aur aap mujhe keh rahe hain ki mai car ki baat karu! Par wo cult hua.”

Making ‘the’ revelation, she continues, “Emraan was not fully convinced for the iconic proposal scene. Unhone uss time par kaha thi ki ‘yeh thoda zyada ho raha hain!’ But, thank God we did it! It became a cult. KK sir ki awaaz in the backgroud is pure magic for the scene! And people talk about my smile in that scene, but jab trailer aaya tha and I saw that smile, I was cringing. I think jab kisi cheez ko work karna hota hain toh poori kaaynat uske liye kaam karti hain!”

Released back in 2008, Jannat continues to be heavily revisited not only for its gripping narrative and convincing performances by Emraan Hashmi and Sonal Chauhan, but also for the intensity that people felt in every frame, every song, every emotion, and it simply brings apt definiton to why Jannat continues to remain a cult!

Meanwhile, she is receiving all the love coming in for her recently released, Mirzapur: The Movie, wherein Chauhan made a splash as Mumtaz Bibi and fueled the film's gangster-drama trope!
