Shocking! After Backlash, Ranveer Singh Set for Major Apology Twist in Kantara Row! Here's What Forced Singh to Apologise Again!?

Ranveer Singh is once again in the spotlight amid the success of his film Dhurandhar 2, but this time due to the ongoing controversy over his mimicry of a scene from Kantara. The actor is set to file an affidavit before the Karnataka High Court on April 10, 2026, offering an unconditional apology in the matter.

The controversy began on November 30, when Ranveer performed a mimicry of the iconic Daiva scene from Kantara at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The original scene, performed by Kantara’s director and lead actor Rishab Shetty, is considered culturally significant. After a video of Ranveer’s act went viral on social media, it triggered backlash from sections of the Kannadiga community, leading to an FIR being filed against him for hurting sentiments.

In February, Ranveer approached the Karnataka High Court seeking relief. At that time, the court directed authorities not to take any coercive action against him. In a recent development, his counsel informed the court that the actor is willing to go a step further by visiting the Chamundi temple in Mysore and offering an in-person apology.

However, complainant advocate Prashanth Methal has questioned the sincerity of Ranveer’s earlier apology. He argued that the actor’s apology, which was posted on Instagram, did not reflect genuine remorse as it was not expressed orally.

Ranveer had earlier clarified that his intention was to appreciate Rishab Shetty’s performance. He stated that, as an actor, he understands the effort behind such scenes and has deep respect for all cultures and traditions. He also apologised to anyone whose sentiments may have been hurt.

Well, Interestingly, despite the controversy, Rishab Shetty recently praised Dhurandhar 2, calling it a gripping film with strong performances by all actors, including Ranveer Singh.
