Former Bollywood actress Sana Khan has once again spoken openly about her decision to quit the entertainment industry and her marriage to Mufti Anas Sayed, strongly refuting claims that she was “brainwashed” into changing her life. Sana, who rose to fame after participating in Bigg Boss Season 6, left Bollywood in 2020 at the peak of her career, a move that shocked her fans and the industry alike.
In a recent chat show with actress Rashami Desai, Sana shared that her decision to step away from showbiz and embrace a more spiritual life was completely personal. She clarified that it was not influenced or forced by her husband. Sana said that during that phase of her life, she was going through deep internal changes. “I was literally transforming into a different person,” she explained. “This was not something caused by my husband. It was something I wanted for myself. He only guided me in that direction.”
Talking about her marriage, Sana revealed that her wedding to Mufti Anas Sayed on November 21, 2020, was kept completely secret. Only her parents and in-laws knew about it. She shared a light-hearted moment from that time, saying that even the mehndi artist didn’t know the groom’s name. “When she asked me the groom’s name, I told her to leave it blank. We’ll write it next time,” Sana recalled.
Addressing online trolls who claimed that Anas had “brainwashed” her into quitting Bollywood and embracing religion, Sana firmly denied these allegations. She said, “People think someone must have brainwashed me because my life changed so suddenly, but that’s not true. No one can influence you unless you want it yourself. I wanted peace.” Sana added that while fame, money, and respect are important, everyone ultimately searches for sukoon (peace).
She also spoke about her personal desires, saying that like most women, she wanted to get married, have children, and build a happy home. Reflecting on her relationship, Sana said she deeply values her husband and often tells him that she could not have found a better life partner. Though the decision to quit the industry was tough, she has no regrets.
Well, Sana Khan and Mufti Anas Sayed are now parents to two sons, Tariq Jamil and Saiyad Hasan Jamil, and continue to lead a peaceful family life away from the spotlight.
