Salman Khan's much-anticipated action-thriller Sikandar finally hit the big screen, bringing excitement to fans. However, despite the Eid 2025 weekend release, the film managed to collect only Rs 7.36 crore on its first Sunday as of now . While the numbers are expected to rise, Sikandar has already fallen victim to online piracy, which may affect its overall earnings.

The film opened with the highest occupancy rates in Mumbai and is currently being screened in more than 7,800 shows across India. Directed by AR Murugadoss and starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, Sikandar has garnered a solid 7.2 IMDb rating. Fans have praised Salman’s intense performance, calling it one of his best, even surpassing Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda Hai. Viewers describe the movie as a powerful tear-jerker packed with action sequences and energetic dance numbers, leading to audiences dancing inside the theatres.

Breaking his usual Friday release pattern, Salman Khan made a surprise announcement for a Sunday release, just a day before Eid 2025. However, the mixed audience reaction and relatively low occupancy rates for a festive weekend have raised concerns. Sikandar also features Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in key roles. While expectations were high, the film has yet to reach the predicted Rs 50 crore opening.

The movie follows the struggles of a young man navigating a corrupt system. The trailer created a buzz, crossing a million views in less than 24 hours. However, despite the hype, Sikandar failed to match the opening numbers of L2: Empuraan, a Malayalam blockbuster that grossed Rs 22 crore on its first day as per reports and became the fastest Malayalam film to cross Rs 100 crore globally till now.

Though advance bookings for Sikandar surpassed Rs 9 crore, the lower-than-expected turnout has raised concerns for Salman Khan’s fans. The biggest setback came when the film was leaked online in high-definition quality. Trade analyst Komal Nahta condemned the piracy, stating on X, “It’s the worst nightmare for any producer… unfortunately, Sikandar was leaked last evening before its release.” The production team managed to remove the leaked content from 600 websites but acknowledged that the damage had been done.

Well, Despite this setback, the filmmakers remain hopeful that the numbers will improve in the coming days. Fans and industry insiders now wait to see if Sikandar can overcome these challenges and turn into a box office success.
