Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang has finally responded to the controversial remarks made by YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner, Elvish Yadav. The comments, which many netizens labeled as racist, had sparked massive outrage on social media. However, fans were waiting for Chum’s response, and she has now addressed the issue, strongly condemning the remarks.

Chum, who has also appeared in the movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, took to her Instagram stories to break her silence. She expressed her disappointment at Elvish’s mocking of her identity, name, and achievements. She wrote, “Disrespecting someone’s identity & name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humor and hate. What’s even more disappointing is that this wasn’t just about my ethnicity, my hard work and a film backed by a visionary like Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also disrespected.”

Chum also sent a message to her fellow North-Easterners, urging them to raise their voices against racism. She made it clear that there is no place for racism in society and that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, dignity, and equality. She said, “To my fellow Northeasterners and everyone who has faced racism I see you, I hear you, and I stand with you. We all deserve respect, dignity, and equality. Let’s raise our voices against racism and promote a culture of empathy, kindness, and understanding. #NoRoomForRacism #NotOkaywithRacism.”

For context, Elvish Yadav had made these remarks in a podcast with Rajat Dalal, which went viral on social media. He mocked Chum’s name and performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi, calling her name “vulgar” and questioning why someone would like her. He said, “Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”

Well, After facing backlash, Elvish later addressed the situation in his vlog and stated that he had deleted that part from the podcast. However, Chum’s firm response emphasizes that such remarks should not be tolerated, and the fight against racism must continue.
