GOVERNOR has left everyone intrigued after the release of its trailer. Made under the banner of Vipul Amrutlal Shah's Sunshine Pictures, the film is directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role!
One of the year's most anticipated films, GOVERNOR stars Manoj Bajpayee alongside Adah Sharma and has already generated massive excitement among audiences. The film explores a crucial yet lesser-known chapter of India's economic history, bringing the turbulent financial crisis of the 1990s to the big screen in a gripping and engaging manner. While the film's narrative is centered around that period, Manoj Bajpayee was also keen on ensuring that his dialogues reflected the language and dialect of the region his character belongs to.
Talking about perfecting his diction for 'GOVERNOR', Manoj Bajpayee shared, "I was very scared and nervous because actors, especially people like me, I don't like to go wrong with language and diction. I am from Bihar. So, I know how much I get offended (with language being wrongly spoken). So, it is better to go to the minimum, I always say because you are making it in Hindi. You need to play up the essence of that language. However, you are not supposed to be completely indulgent about the accent because it will take away the attention from the matter. That is why we have tried to keep a lot of measured things in this, the culture behind the language".
Based on true events, GOVERNOR dives deep into the financial turmoil that shook India during the 1990s economic collapse. Packed with tension, power, and political drama, the trailer offers a riveting peek into the world of crisis and survival. National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee takes center stage as a Governor, delivering a fierce and commanding screen presence unlike anything seen before.
Featuring impactful dialogues, this remarkable tale is brought to you by Sunshine Pictures. The film, directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and features a script by Suvendu Bhattacharyjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The film features lyrics by Javed Akhtar, with music composed by Amit Trivedi. The movie is set for it's theatrical release on 12th June 2026.
