COLORS’ ‘Seher Hone Ko Hai’, starring Parth Samthaan as Mahid, Mahhi Vij as Kausar, and Rishita Kothari as Seher, has steadily lit up viewers’ hearts with its story of a mother (Kausar) quietly rebelling to give her daughter (Seher) a better future. As the show continues to strike a chord for its nuanced take on freedom, choice, and generational conflict, Parth opens up about ensuring his portrayal and transformation go far beyond looks. For his role as Mahid, the privileged heir battling silent emotional scars, Parth took on the challenge of learning Urdu, adding authenticity, texture, and soul to a character rooted firmly in Lucknow’s cultural landscape. In a narrative where language itself becomes a marker of power and tradition, Parth’s decision to train in Urdu lends Mahid an authenticity that audiences are showering with love.

Opening up about the process, Parth shared, “Urdu carries a certain tehzeeb, a softness, and an emotional weight that has to be honoured when speaking it. The languages I am familiar with have a very different texture and pronunciation, so I was aware from day one that I needed to train myself in Urdu. Most languages are direct and grounded in their phonetics, while Urdu is lyrical, almost musical, and demands a certain flow. Moreover, it compels you to think in poetry. So I spent time understanding pronunciation and listening to recitals. Some sounds and inflections in Urdu are so subtle that only an expert or a fluent speaker can catch them, but I wanted to push myself towards that level of precision. Mahid says very little, but whatever he says must feel lived-in. With all the love I am getting for Mahid in Seher Hone Ko Hai, I feel like the hard work has paid off.”

In the current storyline, Kausar and Dr. Farid secretly plan an escape for Kausar and Seher. Before they can act on it, Parvez discovers their plan, sending tensions soaring. Just as the situation threatens to spiral out of control, Sultana’s return further complicates matters, setting the stage for explosive drama ahead. Will the mother-daughter manage the escape?
