The controversy around the song Sarke Chunar Teri from the upcoming film KD: The Devil has sparked massive backlash, and actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has finally broken her silence.

The song, featuring Nora alongside Sanjay Dutt, was removed from YouTube after being criticised for “vulgar” and “inappropriate” lyrics and visuals. The Union government also confirmed that it had been banned following widespread outrage.

In an emotional Instagram video, Nora said she was grieving the loss of a close friend and had limited internet access, which delayed her response. She clarified that she had originally shot the song three years ago in Kannada and had agreed to it because it was part of a major project with Sanjay Dutt. Since she does not understand Kannada, she relied on the filmmakers’ translations, which she said did not seem inappropriate at the time.

However, Nora strongly distanced herself from the Hindi version. She claimed she was neither informed nor consulted about the dubbed lyrics, calling them “very inappropriate.” She also alleged that the makers released a lyrical video using unapproved and “unflattering” images, and even used an AI-generated image of her without consent.

Nora revealed that when she first heard the Hindi version, she immediately warned the director that it would lead to backlash. She chose not to promote the song, saying her reputation was at stake.

While thanking critics for pressuring the makers to remove the track, she urged fans to stop sharing it. She also condemned personal attacks against her.

Well, Despite the controversy, KD: The Devil is still scheduled to release on April 30.
