Iranian-origin actor Mandana Karimi has spoken candidly about her plans to leave India and eventually return to Iran once the current regime changes. In a recent interview with popular media house, the 37-year-old shared that she is waiting for the day Iran becomes a free and independent nation for women.
Mandana said she dreams of a different Iran — one where women can wear what they want, pursue any course of study, and attend any university without restrictions. She also expressed hope that Iran would build strong and positive relationships in the Middle East and be seen as a country that contributes to the region’s growth rather than posing a threat. “The moment they announce that this regime is gone, I will go,” she stated.
The actor, who gained popularity after appearing on Bigg Boss 9, admitted that leaving India is an emotional decision. She moved to India when she was very young and built her modelling and acting career here. She received immense love from fans and formed close friendships, especially in Mumbai, the city where she worked for years.
However, Mandana revealed that she now feels voiceless in India. She said her bags are packed and described the move as “breaking up with India.” According to her, she lost several friends in Mumbai after she publicly protested against the Iranian government.
Well, While Mumbai never made her feel lonely, she said she now feels that India has “betrayed” her in a way. Despite everything the country gave her, she believes it is time to move on and hopes to return to a free Iran in the future.
