Akshay Kumar is back with a bang as Housefull 5 hits the theatres today, June 6. The much-awaited comedy-adventure film is already creating waves and is set to become one of the biggest openers post-COVID-19. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film stars a powerhouse cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Sonam Bajwa.

This marks Akshay Kumar’s third release of the year after Sky Force and Kesari Chapter 2. But Housefull 5 seems ready to beat both in terms of box office numbers. Early trade reports suggest that the film is expected to collect around Rs 23 crore on Day 1, with estimates ranging between Rs 22 to Rs 24 crore. If these predictions hold true, it will become Akshay Kumar’s highest opening film post-pandemic.

Advance bookings have shown great promise too. The film has already earned Rs 2.15 crore from day 1 advance ticket sales, with nearly 70,000 tickets sold across 10,549 shows. Including block seats, the film has minted Rs 5.7 crore in total advance bookings, surpassing Akshay’s previous record with Sooryavanshi, which had earned Rs 5.35 crore in advance sales.

The film has been made on a grand scale with a budget of around Rs 225 crore, excluding print and advertisement costs. It has been released in over 5000 screens across India, making it one of the widest releases of the year.

The Housefull franchise has been entertaining audiences for over 15 years, and the fourth installment held the record for the biggest opening in the series—until now. With the buzz, the cast, and massive expectations, Housefull 5 is all set to break records and become Akshay Kumar’s biggest hit of 2025 so far.
