Fans of Bollywood action films have a big reason to celebrate! The much-awaited sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War is finally getting closer to release. Titled War 2, the film is part of Yash Raj Films' (YRF) popular Spy Universe and stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
The first War movie, directed by Siddharth Anand, featured Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor. It was a massive hit and became the biggest box office success of 2019. Due to its success, YRF quickly announced a sequel, and ever since, fans have been eagerly waiting for any updates.
War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji, known for films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmāstra. The film will be released on August 14, 2025, just in time for the Independence Day weekend. It will be the next major release in the YRF Spy Universe, followed later by another film titled Alpha.
The buzz around War 2 is growing every day. The latest news suggests that the teaser of the film is coming out very soon. While the makers have not officially confirmed the teaser release date, a post on X (formerly Twitter) has gone viral. It claims that the teaser will likely be released on May 20, which also happens to be Jr NTR’s birthday.
Hrithik Roshan added fuel to the excitement with a teasing tweet to Jr NTR that read:
"Hey @tarak9999, think you know what to expect on the 20th of May this year? Trust me you have NO idea what's in store. Ready? #War2"
This almost confirms that fans can expect the teaser on May 20.
War 2 also marks the first collaboration between Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. Interestingly, this will be Kiara Advani’s first film after announcing her pregnancy, making it even more special for her fans.
Well, With high action, star power, and a strong fan following, War 2 is already one of the most anticipated movies of the year.
