In a major relief for Elvish Yadav, the Supreme Court of India has quashed the FIR and all related proceedings against him in a high-profile case linked to alleged use of snake venom at rave parties.
A bench of Justices M. M. Sundresh and N. Kotiswar Singh ruled that the case filed under the Wildlife (Protection) Act could not stand due to multiple legal flaws.
First, the court noted that the original complaint was filed by a person who was not legally authorised under the Wildlife Act. Although the informant claimed to be an animal welfare officer at the time, he no longer held that position, making the complaint invalid.
Second, the IPC charges against Yadav were based on an earlier FIR registered in Gurugram. However, that case had already been closed with a closure report, meaning those charges could not be used again.
Third, the court rejected the application of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act. It found that the substance recovered from a co-accused—identified as anti-venom—was not listed as a banned substance under the law.
The case began in November 2023 when Yadav was accused of supplying snake venom as a recreational drug at rave parties in Noida. He was arrested on 17 March 2024, and the chargesheet alleged that even foreign nationals attended these events.
Given his fame, the case attracted massive media attention. With this verdict, the Supreme Court has now put a complete end to the legal proceedings against him.
Well, Now Fan's Can't Keep Calm and celebrate this moment of victory.
