Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster Dhurandhar has finally arrived on OTT, but its digital release has left fans with mixed feelings. After a highly successful theatrical run of nearly two months, the action-packed film directed by Aditya Dhar began streaming on Netflix on Friday, January 30, 2026. While audiences were eager to revisit the film from the comfort of their homes, many were quick to notice a major difference between the theatrical and OTT versions.

Dhurandhar has already etched its name in box office history. The film emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever at the domestic box office, collecting approximately Rs. 890.67 crore. On the global front, its total earnings touched around Rs. 1,428 crore, making it the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time. With such massive numbers, the film’s OTT debut was highly anticipated.

However, soon after its Netflix release, social media platforms were flooded with reactions from surprised viewers. Many claimed that the runtime of Dhurandhar on OTT is shorter than the version that played in theatres. The theatrical cut had a duration of 3 hours and 34 minutes, whereas the Netflix version, including the post-credit scene, runs for about 3 hours and 25 minutes. This indicates that nearly 9 to 10 minutes of footage appears to have been trimmed.

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their disappointment and confusion. Several users pointed out that some important scenes seemed to be missing in the OTT version. One viewer wrote that the difference between the theatrical and digital cuts is clearly noticeable, while another commented that a 10-minute reduction could impact the film’s narrative. Videos highlighting the alleged cuts are now going viral, adding to the growing discussion. So far, neither director Aditya Dhar nor the production team or Netflix has issued an official statement addressing the changes.

Reports suggest that the edits may be linked to the film’s international digital release. Dhurandhar is now available in regions where it did not receive theatrical approval, including Pakistan and certain Gulf countries. To meet international guidelines and regional sensitivities, some scenes may have been altered or removed to ensure smooth streaming across different territories.

Well, Dhurandhar is envisioned as a two-part gangster saga. The first installment delves into the brutal underworld of Karachi, showcasing intense gang wars and power struggles. The film stars Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. The second part, Dhurandhar Part 2, is slated for an Eid 2026 release and is expected to focus on Ranveer Singh’s character and India’s response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
