The upcoming action film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, is already creating massive buzz at the box office even before its release. The sequel to the blockbuster film Dhurandhar has recorded impressive advance ticket sales, showing strong excitement among audiences.
According to reports , the film has already sold more than four lakh tickets for its preview shows. These special screenings are scheduled to begin on March 18 after 5 pm, a day before the film’s official theatrical release on March 19. Across India, the movie will have around 8,371 preview shows, indicating a huge demand from moviegoers. The Hindi 2D version is contributing the most to ticket sales, with the average ticket price standing at around Rs 414.
The advance booking numbers have also been very strong globally. The film has crossed Rs 50 crore in worldwide advance bookings for its opening weekend. Out of this, India alone has generated around Rs 21.50 crore from the March 18 premiere shows. Overseas markets have contributed approximately Rs 35 crore for the opening weekend, with North America alone bringing in nearly Rs 27 crore.
Industry experts believe the strong response is also due to the absence of major film releases in recent weeks. Motion film distributor Joginder Mahajan said that there is a huge craze for Dhurandhar 2 among both cinema owners and audiences. He explained that after the release of Dhurandhar and Border 2, many theatres remained empty as no big films were released, even during the Eid period.
Mahajan also mentioned that almost every cinema is expected to screen Dhurandhar 2 until Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Bhooth Bangla arrives in theatres on April 10. Trade experts are now predicting that the film’s opening-day collection could cross Rs 60 crore.
Well, The first film, Dhurandhar, was a massive box office success, earning more than Rs 1,300 crore during its theatrical run of over two months. This happened despite the film being banned in several Gulf countries and Pakistan. For the sequel, the makers are aiming for a wider pan-India reach by releasing dubbed versions in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu, something actor Allu Sirish believes was missing in the first film.
